Valencia, Yorba Linda High FBLA students take on the competition at Southern Section Conference

Teams from both Valencia High School and Yorba Linda High School competed at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Southern Section Conference on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Biola University. A total of 26 high schools with over 800 students were present at the event.

Valencia’s future in business is secure! Forty-one students took part in the FBLA conference. The team performed admirably, finishing with 24 medals and sixth place overall in the highly competitive tournament.

Valencia dominated Business Calculations with Chanson Zhou, Michael Huang and Ben Nguyen taking first, second and sixth place, respectively. Newcomer Anthony Woo placed second in Introduction to Business, and Phil DeVera took fifth in Introduction to Business Communication. Phillip Lue, Abner Abad and Kevin Kim placed second in the Sports Management event, and the team of Verna Chang and Jin Joung placed fifth in Entrepreneurship. Both Phillip Lue and Ben Nguyen placed fifth in Agribusiness and Business Communication, respectively. Derek Hsi and Michael Huang placed in the top six in the competitive Economics event. Jiwon Jeong took fourth in the Introduction to Financial Math event, while Frank Kim placed seventh.

Several Tigers will be representing Valencia at the state competition in Sacramento from April 6 through April 9.

Yorba Linda High School
Twenty-three students competed at the FBLA conference in a variety of events, including Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Health Care Administration and more. Students spent long hours during and after school preparing for this contest, and their hard work paid off!

Congratulations to Amanda Walion, Ravi Patel, Raj Vaza, Harshal Vaza, Dhruv Chaddah, Bryson Bissonnette, Zachary Co, Nick Ding, Simran Chowdhry, Emily Remer, Janet Han, Sarah Chen and Rishi Kheni for placing in the top 10.

Amanda Walion, Ravi Patel, Raj Vaza, Harshal Vaza, Dhruv Chaddah and Bryson Bissonnette all qualified for state-level competition by placing in the top six in their respective events. This qualifies them for the state competition in Sacramento from April 6 through April 9, featuring over 2,000 students from FBLA chapters throughout California.
