Brookhaven Elementary’s second annual spelling bee

Last week, 30 Brookhaven Elementary School students competed in the school’s second annual “Brookhaven Bee” spelling bee. Decked out in lime green shirts, the brave children spelled their hearts out, and were narrowed down to 12 finalists who will go on to compete in the R.E.A.C.H. Foundation’s District Spelling Bee in April.

The Brookhaven finalists are:

  • Third grade: Zoe Zubia, Evan Nam, Sean Yoon
  • Fourth grade: Derek Rash, Aden Kokai, Hannah Terry
  • Fifth grade: Jake Makely, Walker Andersen, Henry Mack
  • Sixth grade: Ivan Chang, Mathew Clark, Kasey Baden

It was a fun night as proud parents, grandparents and siblings enjoyed watching the friendly competition. Delicious complementary snacks were served by two sixth grade entrepreneurs, Hailey Wittmier and Brooke Barber. Special thanks to Principal Julie Lucas and the 11 teachers and PTA volunteers who helped make the night a success!
