CA Dairy Council brings science-based presentation, cows to Ruby Drive Elementary students

Ruby Drive Elementary students learn from a dairy farmer and observe a real cow.

Ruby Drive Elementary School students recently had an engaging science-based presentation from the California Dairy Council. The presentation was a great way to start off the school year as students “moo”ved their way onto a shaded area on campus where they met a dairy farmer, a cow, and a calf.

During the assembly,  students learned the body parts of a cow, interesting cow facts, and the different food items that we consume thanks to cows. Students were excited to see a real cow on campus as the farmer demonstrated the new and old-fashioned ways of milking a cow. To conclude the assembly, all children had an opportunity to pet a newborn calf.
