District alumnus Alex Hahn wins prestigious saxophone competition

Alex Hahn, a PYLUSD alumnus from Mabel Paine Elementary School (2003), Yorba Linda Middle School (2006) and El Dorado High School (2010), recently won the international “Play With Mintzer” competition, sponsored by the Eastman Music Company.

Alex will be flown to Chicago in December to share the stage with legendary saxophonist Bob Mintzer. There, he will be awarded a brand new saxophone.

The six competition judges, including university and professional musicians, all had Alex ranked in first place.

Alex is a graduate of the University of North Texas (2014), and is currently on a full scholarship earning his master’s degree at the University of Southern California. Alex’s father, Jim Hahn, is the Music Director at Tuffree Middle School.

Congrats to Alex on this amazing accomplishment!
