Golden is united against bullying

Golden Elementary School students and staff wearing orange to spread the message of anti-bullying.

On Wednesday, October 25, students at Golden Elementary School wore orange to support Unity Day, a nationwide event aimed at promoting anti-bullying through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

That day, the school’s PAL leaders went to each classroom to explain Unity Day and hand out anti-bullying bookmarks with a pledge to stand against bullying.  At the end of the day, all Golden students took the pledge, led by PAL, to be a kid against bullying.

Flyers explaining Unity Day were sent home along with questions asking students to define unity and what it means to them, their community, or Golden. The flyer also served as a tool to facilitate discussion questions on how to create a more positive classroom environment.

This school year, PAL has adopted an anti-bullying theme and are planning events around anti bullying.  Unity Day was the first event to kick off the year-long message.
