*This is a re-enactment. On November 16 and 17, Esperanza High School (EHS) participated in an ‘Every Fifteen Minutes’ car crash re-enactment and assembly. This program exists in high schools throughout the country to display the devastating dangers of driving under the influence and\/or driving distracted (texting) to students.<\/p>\n

In conjunction with California Highway Patrol, Anaheim Police Department, Anaheim Fire Department, Care Ambulance, and many more, a DUI\/distracted driving car crash re-enactment was displayed on Kellogg Drive in front\u00a0of campus for grades 10-12.<\/p>\n

Students from different groups on campus participated in the car crash re-enactment and the roles of \u201cthe walking dead.\u201d Every fifteen minutes throughout the school day\u00a0leading up to the car crash re-enactment, the grim reaper would enter a classroom to “take” an Aztec. \u00a0Each time this happened, it symbolized their \u201cpassing away\u201d in a DUI\/distracted-related incident.<\/p>\n

On November 17, the day after the car crash,\u00a0Esperanza held an assembly to \u201cmourn\u201d those that had passed and further discuss the potential ramifications of driving under the influence and\/or distracted.<\/p>\n
