{"id":11651,"date":"2018-03-16T08:06:45","date_gmt":"2018-03-16T15:06:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=11651"},"modified":"2018-03-16T08:06:45","modified_gmt":"2018-03-16T15:06:45","slug":"mabel-paine-students-showcase-compassion-collaboration-diversity-and-respect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=11651","title":{"rendered":"Mabel Paine students showcase compassion, collaboration, diversity, and respect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mabel Paine Elementary School students are awesome!\u00a0 The school&#8217;s\u00a0general education students have been working extra hard in their classrooms for opportunities to visit Special Day Classes each week!\u00a0 This practice allows students with special needs to interact with typical peers while learning social skills, playing games, and enjoying new faces.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, 13 students from Mrs. Thurston\u2019s 5th grade class devoted their genius hour project to learning about autism and throwing an \u201cEmoji Party\u201d for Mrs. Davila\u2019s 1st and 2nd grade class. They assigned one-to-one buddies for each student in her class, created activities and games, and raised money for their supplies.
