Several students\u00a0the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD)\u00a0were named finalists in Chapman University\u2019s 19th annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest, with two taking home first place.<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony took place on Friday, March 9, at Chapman University in Orange. This year\u2019s contest theme was \u201cMessenger of Memory.\u201d Presented by Chapman\u2019s Barry and Phyllis Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education, the competition is the largest of its kind in the nation.<\/p>\n

Notably, PYLUSD was the only school district in the world to have all of its middle and high schools take part in this competition, with 13 schools total. This level of participation earned PYLUSD a special keepsake plaque from Chapman University for the third year in a row.<\/p>\n
