During the month of April, the HOSA-JUMP Club at Travis Ranch School had its annual homeroom competition to collect baby items called “April Showers Baby Shower.”\u00a0 Students were encouraged to donate\u00a0items such as diapers,\u00a0wipes, monitors, clothing, food, and more.\u00a0 In the end, the Trailblazers collected 9,230 wipes and 1,584 diapers\u00a0total!<\/p>\n

All of the items were then\u00a0donated to H.I.S. House in Placentia,\u00a0an organization that provides\u00a0transitional shelter to families, single adults, and couples who are homeless, but have the motivation and capability, with\u00a0their assistance, to regain self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n

At the club’s most recent meeting on May 7, H.I.S. House representatives Carrie Buck and Ruth Cho visited Travis Ranch to speak to students about what they do to help out local families\u00a0in need.\u00a0 Great job, students!<\/p>\n

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. JUMP (Junior Upcoming Medical Professionals) is the Middle School division of HOSA. The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community. Our chapter spreads awareness of important health topics, organize community service projects, and compete in medical skills competitions every other year at the State Leadership Conference in Anaheim. JUMP is also intended to be a stepping-stone to Esperanza High School’s esteemed Medical Sciences Academy.\u00a0 Teachers Mrs. Chapluk and Mrs. Beelner are the advisors.<\/p>\n
