On May 7, eighth-grade AVID \u2018Standout Students\u2019 from all six Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) middle schools were recognized by the Orange County Department of Education at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.<\/p>\n

Kraemer Middle School student, Ximena Flores, was one of just six students\u00a0selected by the Angels Foundation as an Angels Scholar.\u00a0 In addition to Angels tickets, Angels gear, and a brand new laptop,\u00a0Ximena will receive a\u00a0$10,000 renewable scholarship for college!<\/p>\n

Ximena was chosen as Kraemer’s AVID 8th grade standout after writing an outstanding essay, completing a comprehensive application, and impressing judges through two rounds of interviews.\u00a0 With her hard work, she\u00a0surpasses over 60 other AVID middle school standout recipients from all over Orange County and over 3,000 AVID 8th graders total.<\/p>\n

AVID, short for \u2018Advancement Via Individual Determination, supports students with post-secondary potential to successfully matriculate to college, persevere and earn a degree.<\/p>\n
