On May 24,\u00a0fourteen Yorba Linda High School students participated in the sixth annual “I Have A Dream” speech contest in the Forum Theatre.<\/p>\n

This event was inspired by countless people throughout history\u00a0including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who sacrificed so much to fight for what\u00a0he believed was right and helped to make the world a better place.<\/p>\n

The fourteen finalists courageously took on a societal problem in a\u00a0three to five minute speech where they spoke about the importance of\u00a0the issue\u00a0and how\u00a0they\u00a0can help be a bridge to a world where that problem was addressed.<\/p>\n

The Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club generously donated scholarships to the following students:<\/p>\n

1st Place – Wayne Chan’s “Our Democracy” $200
\n2nd Place – Sydney Baugh’s “In Sickness & In Health” $150
\n3rd Place – Aino Hakkinen’s “A Lethal Problem” $100<\/p>\n

In addition, attendees of the event donated over $300 to “Action Against Hunger,” a charity dedicated to bringing food and water to desperate people suffering from conflict, natural disasters and food crises.<\/p>\n
