Third\u00a0grade students from Melrose Elementary School recently took a field trip to the Placentia Civic Center to get a close look at their local government and resources.<\/p>\n

Students learned about the history of Placentia\u00a0— from\u00a0orange groves and packing houses to the oil industry.\u00a0 They also applied for library cards and learned what the Placentia library has to offer for children.<\/p>\n

The Melrose Marlins also had the opportunity to\u00a0tour the police station.\u00a0 They visited the dispatch center and listened to\u00a0operators receive and dispatch calls.\u00a0 Placentia PD even let the students sit in their police cars!<\/p>\n

Finally, students visited each department of the city hall to learn more about how they serve Placentia.\u00a0 The field trip ended with a Q & A session with Mayor Pro Tempore, Rhonda Shader.<\/p>\n
