La Entrada High School (LEHS) held its class of 2018 commencement ceremony on Tuesday, June 12, at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Performing Arts Center (PAC). Following the 2017-18 school year, LEHS awarded 48 graduates their high school diplomas.<\/p>\n

Notably, three graduates who have been friends since their early childhood will attend California Baptist University in the fall with a combined offer of over $26,000 in scholarships. One student will attend Hofstra University in New York with $84,000 in scholarships, and one will attend University of Redlands with over $120,000 in scholarships. In addition, of the graduating seniors that filled out the school\u2019s exit survey, 100% reported that they will attend a college, university, technical or trade school following high school!<\/p>\n

Board of Education President, Carol Downey, Clerk, Eric Padget, Trustee, Karin Freeman,\u00a0PYLUSD\u00a0Superintendent, Dr. Greg Plutko, Assistant Superintendent, Kevin Lee, Director, Carrie Bisgard, and Principal Carey Cecil were a few of the honored guests in attendance to help celebrate La Entrada\u2019s Class of 2018.<\/p>\n

Following Principal Cecil\u2019s welcome and student-centered address, graduates Kiara Espericueta and Emily Suchy both delivered powerful speeches that spoke to the benefits of La Entrada\u2019s\u00a0unique high school model and friendly environment.<\/p>\n

Faculty members Sarah Miller, Kim Peck, Dan Sobschak, and Elaine Hudson then presented the students with various awards and scholarships including two from the Placentia Linda Unified Managers (PLUM) Award and the Association of Placentia Linda Educators (APLE).<\/p>\n

Eric Padget then accepted the La Entrada Class of 2018 as having met all the requirements necessary to complete high school, and the diplomas were awarded as loved ones and attendees cheered.<\/p>\n
