On Thursday, June 14, Esperanza High School (EHS) held its 2018 commencement ceremony where 425 seniors were presented their high school diploma in Nathan Shapell Memorial Stadium.<\/p>\n

Of those seniors, nearly 92% have enrolled to further their educational pursuit at a two or four-year college or university following high school. The EHS Class of 2018 earned over $4.7 million in scholarship money including two military academy appointments and three Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships.<\/p>\n

The ceremony included honored guests such as Board of Education Clerk, Eric Padget, Trustees, Judi Carmona and Karin Freeman, as well as the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Superintendent, Dr. Greg Plutko, Assistant Superintendent, Kevin Lee, Directors, Cary Johnson and Dr. Eric Mooney, and Principal, Gina Aguilar.<\/p>\n

Students speakers Emilee Carr and Abby Cuellar both reflected on their\u00a0experiences\u00a0at Esperanza and the many opportunities the school had granted. Following their time at EHS, Emilee was named \u201cAztec of the Year,\u201d while Abby earned Valedictorian.<\/p>\n

After the new graduates turned their tassels from right to left, streamer cannons blasted off over the graduates to conclude the ceremony and their time in PYLUSD.<\/p>\n
