El Dorado High School<\/a>\u00a0 (EDHS) senior Caelyn Smith was sworn in as the new Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District<\/a> (PYLUSD) Student Representative to the Board of Education on Tuesday, August 14. Her term will last throughout the first semester of the school year.<\/p>\n

Like many, Caelyn has grown up in PYLUSD schools having attended Brookhaven Elementary, Tuffree Middle, and now, EDHS.<\/p>\n

This school year, Caelyn will serve the Golden Hawks as ASB president. In this elected role, she will have a long list of important responsibilities including planning school-wide events and activities, exemplifying school spirit, overseeing budgets, and much more.<\/p>\n

When asked about Caelyn, El Dorado Activities Director, Eron Campuzano, shared, \u201cThis will be Caelyn’s 4th year in El Dorado’s ASB. She represents all the qualities our leadership and our school hold strong. She is well-rounded, spirited, and above all, a leader in every definition of the word.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to ASB, Caelyn\u2019s senior year will also include multiple advanced placement (AP) classes, a spot on the varsity soccer team, and other extra-curricular activities.<\/p>\n

Uniquely, Caelyn\u2019s brother, Cole Smith, also served alongside the Board as the PYLUSD Student Representative during the second semester of the 2015-16 school year. Caelyn shared that Cole currently attends Claremont McKenna College and, just like his sister, plays soccer for the school.<\/p>\n

Following graduation and beginning in fall 2019, Caelyn will attend Colgate University in upstate New York to play Division I soccer and study, she anticipates, some type of science.<\/p>\n

The District is incredibly pleased that Caelyn has agreed to serve as the Student Board Representative during her senior year at El Dorado.<\/p>\n
