During the week of October 8, many upper grade Lions at Lakeview Elementary School came out to interview for one of the school’s leadership groups in the hope of becoming a “Peer Mentor” for the 2018-19 school year. The program had the biggest turnout that it has ever had with over 40 applicants.<\/p>\n
After much thought and consideration of the students who applied, Lakeview’s new Peer Mentors were chosen and notified the week of October 15.<\/p>\n
Training quickly began on October 23 and 25 for the new Mentors. They participated in ice-breaker games, learned about their new leadership group, heard stories on kindness, and\u00a0discussed\u00a0modeling positive traits for their Mentees.<\/p>\n
The students role played various scenarios that they might be involved in with their Mentees and learned of their new role as their Mentees’ confidant.<\/p>\n
