The top two winners in each class advanced to Golden&#8217;s School Spelling Bee held on Thursday, November 30.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Bee&#8221; was supposed to be held outside. However,\u00a0due to a\u00a0rainstorm,\u00a0the school had to create a\u00a0&#8220;plan B for the Bee&#8221;.\u00a0In total,\u00a028 students competed in the Multi-Purpose Room with parents and\u00a0fellow students in the audience.<\/p>\n<p>Principal, Dr. Alison DeMark and assistant principal, Mrs. Kristin McDonald set up a &#8220;Google Hangout&#8221; so that all 4th through 6th-grade classes could watch the bee via webcam in their classrooms for the first time ever.<\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0nine rounds of competition, three students placed in each grade level. Here&#8217;s\u00a0the list:<\/p>\n<p><strong>4th Grade<\/strong><br \/>\n1st &#8211; Shrihun Andhe<br \/>\n2nd &#8211; Izan Hsu<br \/>\n3rd &#8211; Dahee Lee<\/p>\n<p><strong>5th Grade<\/strong><br \/>\n1st &#8211; Micah Lee<br \/>\n2nd &#8211; Kaitlyn Chung<br \/>\n3rd &#8211; Yatin Alla<\/p>\n<p><strong>6th Grade<\/strong><br \/>\n1st &#8211; Surina Borbor<br \/>\n2nd- Samuel Choi<br \/>\n3rd &#8211; Henry Kong<\/p>\n<p>All of these students qualify for the\u00a0Spelling Bee hosted by the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reach4pylusd.org\">R.E.A.C.H. Foundation<\/a><\/span> in the spring.<\/p>\n<p>Golden&#8217;s top three 6th graders will also advance to the Orange County Department of Education&#8217;s Scripp&#8217;s Spelling Bee on February 25 and March 2.
