Congratulations to El Dorado High School’s<\/span><\/a> (EDHS) Hawk Talk for being named\u00a0the Best High School Broadcast at the 2019 Orange County Film Festival (OCFF). The event was held\u00a0on Friday, January 4, at Northwood High School in Irvine.<\/p>\n

Hawk Talk, under the direction of teacher Mark Switzer, is the student broadcast class offered in the school’s Digital Media Arts Academy<\/a><\/span> known as DMAA.<\/p>\n

That evening, the award for Best High School Broadcast was presented to Hawk Talk’s student news director, Joeli Schwartz (’19), who accepted the award on behalf of the class.<\/p>\n

“This is the 3rd time overall that Hawk Talk has won the award for Best Broadcast at the OCFF, and our 11th overall nomination for the award over the past 13 years,” shared Switzer.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Best High School Broadcast accolade,\u00a0the Golden Hawks\u00a0received\u00a0six other award nominations at the 16th annual event, put on by FilmED Academy of the Arts.<\/p>\n

The short film, Tabula Rasa, by Brian Powers (’18) and Emily Henderson (’18) was nominated for Best Short Film,\u00a0Best Producer (Emily Henderson),\u00a0Best\u00a0Actor (Alex Long), and\u00a0Best Story (Brian Powers).<\/p>\n

The news feature story Echolocation by Cameron Kish (’19) was nominated for Best Spot Feature and Best Documentary Story. Echolocation first appeared on Hawk Talk in November 2018.<\/p>\n
