{"id":15557,"date":"2019-03-21T15:41:56","date_gmt":"2019-03-21T22:41:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=15557"},"modified":"2019-03-21T15:42:24","modified_gmt":"2019-03-21T22:42:24","slug":"ruby-drive-elementary-students-take-part-in-pylusd-nutrition-services-culinary-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=15557","title":{"rendered":"Ruby Drive Elementary students take part in PYLUSD Nutrition Services culinary contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After many months of planning and preparation, Ruby Drive Elementary School students were able to embark\u00a0on a culinary journey with the assistance from\u00a0Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD)\u00a0chef, Orlando Leuvano and the entire <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pylusdnutrition.org\/\">Nutrition Services Department<\/a><\/span> under Director, Suzanne Morales.<\/p>\n<p>The students were challenged with developing a recipe that contained broccoli as the main ingredient, met the nutritional guidelines followed by the District, and served\u00a0six people. The student creations also needed to\u00a0be prepared and presented within 60 minutes. In front of a panel of judges, students presented\u00a0their written recipes that detailed a list of ingredients and step-by-step instructions for preparation. They were the students\u00a0selected to move to the final round on Tuesday, March 26 to compete against\u00a0three finalists\u00a0from Rio Vista Elementary School.<\/p>\n<p>The winning recipe will be added to\u00a0the PYLUSD lunch menu!
