Over the course of Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22, both the El Dorado High School (EDHS) and Esperanza High School (EHS) Choral Music departments were invited to perform at the Azusa Pacific University Invitational Choir Festival. This festival invites established choirs throughout California and Arizona to present their music in a non-competitive format. Each choir is adjudicated by a professional in the choral music community, who provides them with valuable feedback. This year’s adjudicator was choral music icon, Dr. Anton Armstrong, who is Tosdal Professor of Music at St. Olaf College and the fourth conductor of the St. Olaf Choir.<\/p>\n

Choral ensembles from both EDHS and EHS represented their schools and District well. Dr. Armstrong expressed an appreciation for the work being done in both choral music programs and provided beneficial comments towards their improvement as they prepare for future ratings-festivals in May.<\/p>\n

Both Choral Music Directors including Ryan Yoder (EDHS)\u00a0and Katie Villarreal (EHS) were thankful for the opportunity to showcase the high quality of choral music education in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.<\/p>\n
