Following testing at Esperanza High School (EHS), AP Environmental Science students were challenged with bringing environmental awareness to the students and staff\u00a0on campus.<\/p>\n

The Aztecs were asked to choose one environmental issue that they feel truly passionate about. Their first task was to create an impactful visual to be displayed in the 200 building hallway for Environmental Awareness Week\u00a0May 27- 31. Their second task was to create an informational flyer that discusses the causes, consequences, and potential solutions for their chosen issue. Their final task\u00a0was to create a video of themselves interviewing students and staff at Esperanza while\u00a0 discussing their environmental issue. The video was also suppose to include an educational piece in order to inform students and staff about what\u00a0efforts they can making in\u00a0their daily lives to help.<\/p>\n

Collectively, the students also worked to create two different murals in the hallways of EHS. The first one represents a healthy ocean ecosystem on one side, and the other side is polluted with plastic trash and bleached\/dying coral. The second mural represents a healthy rain forest ecosystem on one side, and on the other side the trees have been cut down and the forest burned for human agriculture.<\/p>\n

“The students have worked extremely hard to put this all together, it was truly a group effort!” teacher\u00a0Jenna Reta mentioned. “Each and every AP Environmental student made a contribution to the cause, most of them going above and beyond what was required. A unifying experience for all of us, and a great way to end the year.”<\/p>\n
