{"id":17122,"date":"2019-09-18T09:56:50","date_gmt":"2019-09-18T16:56:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=17122"},"modified":"2019-09-20T08:32:37","modified_gmt":"2019-09-20T15:32:37","slug":"glenknoll-elementary-school-student-organizes-school-supply-drive-to-benefit-pylusd-mckinney-vento-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=17122","title":{"rendered":"Glenknoll Elementary School student organizes school supplies drive to benefit PYLUSD McKinney Vento families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alex Bartolo, a 6th grade student at Glenknoll Elementary School, and his mother, Lisa, decided to assist the McKinney Vento students of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District once again.<\/p>\n<p>Together, the mother-son duo organized a school supplies drive and collected\u00a0items from a variety of community members and organizations. As a result, they were able to donate a large quantity of items\u00a0and spent several hours at the District&#8217;s Family Resource Center in order to fill backpacks with all of the donated supplies.<\/p>\n<p>This is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=13443\">not the first time Alex<\/a><\/span> and his mother have organized a school supplies drive in benefit of PYLUSD families. Last school year, Alex spearheaded a similar movement\u00a0with the help of friends, family, teachers, and community members.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Matson, PYLUSD McKinney Vento Liaison, expressed his gratitude to the Bartolos and families like theirs saying, &#8220;We are so fortunate that people from our own community offer assistance and help to our less fortunate families.
