{"id":17302,"date":"2019-10-03T14:44:31","date_gmt":"2019-10-03T21:44:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=17302"},"modified":"2019-10-10T15:13:59","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T22:13:59","slug":"pylusd-avid-tutors-participate-in-professional-development-to-benefit-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=17302","title":{"rendered":"PYLUSD AVID Tutors participate in professional development to benefit students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) AVID Tutors recently gathered together to fine-tune their mentoring skills as they prepare for another successful year supporting AVID middle and high school students.<\/p>\n<p>The tutors, who\u00a0attend\u00a0colleges such as Cal Poly Pomona, University of California, Irvine, California State University, Fullerton, Northern Arizona University, and Fullerton College, help provide academic rigor and build relational capacity with AVID students. Some tutors are even recent college graduates.<\/p>\n<p>Many times, PYLUSD students report feeling connected to these mentors who have faced similar challenges as they navigate the increasingly-demanding pathway to college.
