Specifically, she (and 4 other panelists) will discuss how they are infusing California’s environmental practices into all science curriculum.

To an audience of some 100-plus educators, Mrs. Gersbacher will offer ways teachers can stay current and relevant to the conservation ideology called for in the NGSS. California is one of only a few states that has environmental practices written into its curriculum. Mrs. G, as the students call her, explains how “the intent it is to create students who are environmentally literate and able to make social & personal decisions that facilitate interactions with our natural systems.”

As a panelist, she has been asked to respond to the following questions: How have you included environmental literacy in your course? How have you integrated NGSS and the EP&C’s? What challenges have you overcome in doing so? What advice do you have for those just getting started integrating EP&Cs into NGSS? (Tips and Tools).

She will also answer questions from the audience of science educators. Under the leadership of Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School district instructional science coaches Jenner Rasic and William Truong, District science educators are on the cutting edge of science instruction in California.

Mrs. Gersbacher pictured here on a field trip to Griffith Observatory.

Congratulations to El Camino Real High School’s Integrated Science teacher, Mrs. Lisa Gersbacher, who was selected to serve as a panelist at the California Next…

[1177

post-18314","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-high-school
["GET
