{"id":18557,"date":"2020-01-17T09:48:39","date_gmt":"2020-01-17T17:48:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=18557"},"modified":"2020-01-17T11:33:14","modified_gmt":"2020-01-17T19:33:14","slug":"shaylee-matthews-sworn-in-as-new-student-representative-to-the-pylusd-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=18557","title":{"rendered":"Shaylee Matthews sworn in as new Student Member on the PYLUSD Board of Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Esperanza High School (EHS) senior Shaylee Matthews was sworn in as the new <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pylusd.org\">Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District<\/a><\/span> (PYLUSD) Student\u00a0Board Member\u00a0on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Her term will last throughout the second\u00a0semester of the school year.<\/p>\n<p>As the Student Board Member, Shaylee will prepare a monthly report to present at each Board Meeting. Her reports will highlight recent activities and events occurring on the District&#8217;s high school campuses. She will also cast\u00a0preferential votes on important matters related to\u00a0PYLUSD.<\/p>\n<p>Shaylee grew up in the District, having attending\u00a0Glenknoll Elementary School before transitioning to\u00a0Bernardo Yorba Middle School and now, EHS.<\/p>\n<p>This school year, Shaylee serves the Aztecs\u00a0as ASB President, an elected role with\u00a0many responsibilities on behalf of her school. In addition to ASB, Shaylee\u2019s senior year also includes many Advanced Placement (AP) courses, soccer, newspaper, orchestra, and\u00a0more.<\/p>\n<p>Following graduation and beginning in Fall 2020,\u00a0Shaylee will attend Chapman University in Orange on a full tuition scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>The District is incredibly pleased that\u00a0Shaylee has agreed to serve as the Student Board Member during her\u00a0final semester\u00a0at Esperanza and in PYLUSD.
