February 14 through 17, the award-winning El Dorado High School (EDHS) Vocal Ensemble had the honor of performing in New York City, New York. Vocal Ensemble is the premier choir from El Dorado’s Choral Music Department. The much anticipated performance tour included a concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Despite being unfinished, this cathedral is the world’s fifth largest and the largest Protestant cathedral. Additionally, Vocal Ensemble had the opportunity to perform at The Church of Saint Paul the Apostle, which is the third largest church in New York City.<\/p>\n

\"El<\/a>During the tour, Vocal Ensemble members also enjoyed a master class with Cathedral St. John the Divine’s Associate Choirmaster, Bryan Zaros. He is also the Music Director of the Pro Arte Chorale, an ensemble with a 55-year legacy specializing in the performance of the great choral and orchestral masterworks. He is a recipient of several awards including those from Westminster Choir College, The University of Michigan, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Manhattan School of Music and an American Prize award in Conducting.<\/p>\n

“The students were privileged to work Mr. Zaros and grateful for his support in attending our concert at the cathedral on Monday,” Director of Choral Music, Ryan Yoder,\u00a0noted.<\/p>\n

The performance tour included opportunities to visit Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, and the National September 11th Memorial. On Sunday morning, the singers were given a tour of Radio City Music Hall, where they met a current Rockette. Another highlight for the students was seeing the Broadway production of, “Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations.”<\/p>\n

“I am so grateful our students had the prestigious honor of singing in New York City. Each performance was a memory these students will treasure for a lifetime. We were proud to represent EDHS and PYLUSD by showcasing our quality music program in the Big Apple!” Yoder said.<\/p>\n
