Valencia High School’s Science Olympiad teams’ competitive season came to a successful close at the Orange County Regional on Saturday, February 15 at the University of California, Irvine. The Tigers earned a sixth place finish out of the 36 teams that competed. The two Tiger teams collected a total of 29 medals in the following events:<\/p>\n

Astronomy \u2013 Melody Sun, Fernanda Mata, Nigam Vadecha & Donovan Nguyen (second place)
\nBoomilever \u2013 Karissa Pratt & Eric Lee (third place)
\nChemistry Lab \u2013 Mumtaz Gababa & Karina Patel (second place)
\nCircuit Lab \u2013 Brendan Wong & Rohith Venkatesh (third place)
\nCodebusters \u2013 Cadence Sparks, Mumtaz Gababa & Hunter Cheng (second place) and Kalena Kwan, Joshua Hockman & Audrey Leung

Science Olympiad is a scholastic competition where students compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines including social science, earth and space science, physical science and chemistry, technology and engineering, and more. Each year, over 7,500 middle and high school teams from around the country compete in multiple levels of competition including regionals, states, and then nationals.<\/p>\n
