Students used solar-powered cars to learn about gear ratio and torque. The first trial had a large gear driving a smaller gear to move the wheel axis. Students timed the car and marked the distance to figure out the speed. The students then switched the gears, having a smaller gear driving a large gear. They were surprised to see how slow the cars moved with this gear ratio.
