Valencia High School student Tanya Vidhun recently had the opportunity to attend the MAKERS Conference, a global leadership event that brings together hundreds of the most powerful names in business, entertainment, tech, and finance to explore ways to accelerate women\u2019s equality. The three-day event took place in Dana Point, and aimed to provide the inspiration that moves people to action via conversations, storytelling, and pledges to advance change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tanya attended the MAKERS Conference among dozens of influential and inspiring celebrities and leaders. She represented the organization Girl Up, which provides youth with the training, tools, and community to build their leadership and accelerate social change. Because of her involvement with the organization, she also had the chance to participate as a speaker on a panel focused on sharing what adults need to be doing to further gender equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the experience, Tanya shared: “Everyone was so supportive, clapping and cheering when important points were made, so I think it was the people, both speakers and audience members, who made everything so special. The group at MAKERS had this close sense of trust and unity that I have never experienced before, and I hope every young woman, like me, has the chance to be a part of the “MAKERS Magic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
