Valencia High School’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America just scored their personal best in the Southern Section Leadership Conference held earlier in February. The school had nine students win their events and the chapter placed\u00a0second in Sweepstakes.<\/strong>\u00a0The Southern Section Leadership Conference took place at Valencia High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VHS had a total of 35 students qualify for competition at the State Leadership Conference in Sacramento in late April. The Tigers are well-balanced with nine qualifiers for freshmen, juniors, and seniors; with the sophomores having eight qualifiers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To add to the good news, Valencia continued their dominance in the economics competition with\u00a0Darshil Vaishnav (12)\u00a0taking first place,\u00a0Steven Segawa (12)\u00a0right behind him in 2nd, and\u00a0Aina Pan\u00a0(11) in 6th. These young Tigers dominated the Introduction to FBLA competition\u2014Dillon Joo (10), Skyler Kim (10), and Evan Park (10)\u00a0taking first, second, and fourth place respectively.\u00a0Another three qualified for the Insurance & Risk Management, in First Place –\u00a0Ray Tan (11); Celeste Paik (11)\u00a0took 3rd; and\u00a0Guande Xin (12)\u00a0placed 6th.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile seniors took home hardware in these events:
1st Place – Katelyn Park and Sarah Lee\u00a0<\/strong>in Sports & Entertainment Management.\u00a0
4th Place – Mancheon Park\u00a0<\/strong>in Marketing.
5th Place – Brandon Xa\u00a0<\/strong>in Computer Problem Solving.
5th Place – Kevin Jeon\u00a0<\/strong>in Securities and Investments<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juniors scored well in the following events:
1st Place – Alicia Ma\u00a0<\/strong>in Business Calculations
1st Place – Daeuni Lee\u00a0<\/strong>in Business Communication
3rd Place – Amanda Liu\u00a0<\/strong>in Public Speaking
3rd Place – Annesha Cain\u00a0<\/strong>in Agribusiness
3rd Place – Lucas Cheng\u00a0<\/strong>in Healthcare Administration
4th Place – Ruth Jacobs\u00a0<\/strong>in Advertising\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, our Sophomores showed up big in these events:\u00a0
2nd Place – Yamini Vunguturi\u00a0<\/strong>– Future Business Leader
3rd Place – Skyler Kim\u00a0<\/strong>– Impromptu Speaking
3rd Place – Timothy Yoo\u00a0<\/strong>– Introduction to Public Speaking
5th Place – Dillon Joo\u00a0<\/strong>– Introduction to Information Technology<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers’ success has been bolstered by an increase in interest by lower classmen. They have more 9th-grade members than ever before! It’s an exciting time to be involved in FBLA at Valencia! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We owe a big debt to the new and veteran Business Teachers talking up our program and the opportunities offered by FBLA,” Joy Millam, Teacher Librarian and FBLA Coach shared. “Giant thanks to\u00a0Fred Jenkins\u00a0for his brilliance in teaching\u00a0Economics.\u00a0Valencia has dominated the Econ event for the 10 years I’ve been involved in FBLA. Our National Champion,\u00a0Chris Leung (now at UCLA)\u00a0has always said that Mr. Jenkins was the reason for his success.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
