On Wednesday, March 22, the\u00a0Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District\u00a0(PYLUSD), in partnership with the\u00a0Placentia and Yorba Linda chambers of commerce, held its annual \u201cPrincipal for a Day\u201d event for the first time since 2019. The chambers organized a list of community members and local business representatives to shadow principals across the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only did guest principals have the opportunity to\u00a0gain an\u00a0exclusive\u00a0view of school sites, but they also learned about the\u00a0long list of responsibilities that come with being a\u00a0principal in PYLUSD. Many of them gave the morning announcements, toured a variety of classrooms, and had the chance to\u00a0witness student learning along the way. The experience also provided an opportunity for the district to demonstrate what makes their schools so special\u00a0including extensive programs, high-quality teachers, state-of-the-art facilities, integrated technology, and endless community support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following their morning on campus, principals and guest principals joined the Board of Education, district leaders including Superintendent Dr. Michael Matthews and the four assistant superintendents, and representatives from the Placentia and Yorba Linda chambers to share what they learned about the role of a principal, educating K-12 students, and the day-to-day operations of a school site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Principal for a Day event aligns with The PYLUSD Advantage<\/em> Focus Area 3.0, “Engaged Community,” which encourages positive relationships among students, staff, and parents as well as educational, business, and community partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The district is very grateful for the continued support of the Placentia and Yorba Linda chambers of commerce and all who make up its engaged community!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
