Buena Vista Virtual Academy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In honor of Veterans Day, students at Buena Vista Virtual Academy took a walking field trip to Veterans Park in Yorba Linda. Students explored the Veterans Memorial at the park and learned about the contributions the Veterans in our community have made to our country. They discussed the meaning of the words Honor, Respect, Duty, Loyalty, and Courage inscribed around the memorial. In honor of Veterans Day, students placed flags in front of our school around a “Thank You Veterans” sign. It was a fun and inspirational trip!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Dorado High School<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, November 9, El Dorado High School (EDHS) hosted its eleventh annual Veterans Day ceremony at its Fallen Heroes Memorial on campus. Each year, the ceremony is supported by Placentia Boy Scout Troop 723, the Binnings family, and the school\u2019s band, choral, and digital media arts programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fallen Heroes Memorial was constructed in 2013 as an Eagle Scout project by Andrew Binnings, a 2014 EDHS graduate. The Memorial is the focal point of the Veterans Day ceremony each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVeterans Day came about in the United States at the end of World War I. President Wilson initially called it Armistice Day to recognize the end of the war to end all wars. Years after World War II ended, Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day to recognize the service and sacrifice of all veterans,\u201d Principal Joey Davis shared. \u201cToday, we especially honor the veterans who have joined us here, all the veterans of El Dorado High, and three of them in particular.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wagner Elementary School <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wagner Elementary School paid honor to those who have served the nation on Veterans Day by presenting its Wall of Honor. The structure was created by students and staff several years ago with information and pictures of loved ones who are veterans or in the service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year students and staff have a chance to add a “brick” to the Wall of Honor to recognize a veteran connected to their family. The bricks stay up year after year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Seitz, a teacher at the school, maintains the display to show respect to all who have made the sacrifice to serve the United States. Way to go, Wildcats!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
