On May 30, 2024, Tynes Elementary School’s PTA hosted its annual Family STEAM Night, delivering an evening filled with engaging educational activities. The event captivated students and parents with five interactive stations that highlighted science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Human Heart Pump Model allowed students to explore the mechanics of the human heart through a hands-on model. The Obstacle Course taught participants about the effects of exercise on the body by comparing their resting and active heart rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creativity met science with the Marshmallow Constellations activity, where students used marshmallows and toothpicks to create their own constellations. In the Aluminum Boats station, students designed and tested boats made from aluminum foil to learn about buoyancy. Bubble Art combined art and science as students created beautiful prints using bubbles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Principal Tonya Gordillo and Assistant Principal Michelle Miller were actively involved throughout the evening, contributing to the event’s success. Miss Yorba Linda made a special appearance to inspire the students, and members of Valencia Girl Up, an all-girls STEM club from Valencia High School, led a chromatography flowers activity, showcasing the intersection of science and art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the enthusiasm and participation of the Tynes Elementary community, this year\u2019s STEAM Night was a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
