The Dashboard is California’s accountability system that assesses how districts and schools are meeting the needs of their students based on the state’s criteria. This online tool is designed to provide parents and educators with meaningful and easy-to-digest information on district and school progress.

We are proud to share that the district’s ratings consistently surpass county and state averages through our focus on offering rigorous and relevant educational experiences that empower students to become responsible, ethical, and contributing citizens. We saw many bright spots when examining district-wide data from the 2023-2024 school year, including strong ratings in the areas of English language arts performance, mathematics performance, graduation rate, college and career readiness, and chronic absenteeism, with particular improvements among homeless youth, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and students with disabilities.

For instance:

English language arts results maintained at 35.6 points above the standard with the greatest improvement for Foster Youth students (+5.3 points).

Math results increased by 5 points at 11 points above the standard with the greatest improvement for socioeconomically disadvantaged students (+5.8 points), Hispanic students (+4.1 points), and English Learners (+3.9 points).

The high school graduation rate increased by 1.1% to 95.4% overall, with the greatest improvement among English learners (+7.9%) and students with disabilities (+6.9%).

The College and Career Preparedness rate increased by 3.9% with the greatest improvement for English Learners (+5.5%), socioeconomically disadvantaged students (+4.2%), and Hispanic students (+3.4%).

The district’s chronic absenteeism rate decreased by 5.6% to 12.2%, with the greatest improvement among African American students (-16.3%), homeless youth (-8.9%), students with disabilities (-8.1%), and socioeconomically disadvantaged students (-8%).

The suspension rate decreased by 0.8% with 0.6% of students suspended at least one day.

The district’s data also brought to light some opportunities for growth, including English Learner progress, which relies on the results of the Summative English Language Proficiency Assessments for California; enhancing college and career preparedness to build on the current 59.8% readiness rate and expanding opportunities for all students; and increasing science performance, which was included in the California Dashboard for the first time this year and is 4.6 points below the standard.

View a report that summarizes PYLUSD’s California School Dashboard data in English or Spanish.
