Valencia High School students Dylan Nguyen, Christopher Tran, and Seth Chang were named state finalists in the 2024-2025 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition. The team, composed of juniors Nguyen and Tran and senior Chang, developed an innovative application designed to enhance speech prediction and expressiveness for nonverbal users using machine learning. The app mimics a phone\u2019s autocomplete feature, employing generative transformers to learn from the user\u2019s conversation history, emotional state, and environment. Their goal is to develop a customizable model that integrates with other medical devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As one of 300 state finalists, the team earned a $2,500 Samsung technology prize package for their school. Their creative application of STEM underscores the transformative power of technology in addressing communication challenges and highlights Valencia High School’s commitment to fostering problem-solving and technological innovation.
