On March 14th, Yorba Linda High School staff participated in an enriching Art Therapy session focused on creating decorative bee hives. These sessions have been facilitated by Kelly Fritz, an art teacher, for approximately a decade. Even during the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessity for social distancing, Fritz remained committed to providing opportunities for staff members to relax, engage in creative expression, and leave with a decorative item to enhance their classrooms, offices, or homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants consistently express appreciation for the positive impact of these sessions. Sarah P. shared, \u201cI love just hanging out with my colleagues, and Kelly makes it so easy to be creative with all the supplies we need to make something cute!\u201d Peyton P. highlighted the supportive environment, stating, \u201cArt therapy is the BEST! The cookies\u2026the friends, old and new, the space to relax and just ‘be’ is what makes this event my most cherished here at YLHS!\u201d Diane L. echoed these sentiments, noting, \u201cArt therapy is totally awesome. I enjoy every minute, and it puts a smile on my face every time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The success of these Art Therapy sessions is further supported by the contributions of fellow art teachers Brent Hendry and Jeff Schumerth, as well as custodian Jose Vazquez. Their collaborative efforts have been instrumental in fostering a sense of community, enhancing colleague connections, and supporting the mental well-being of staff members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
