From March 26 to 28, twenty-six students from Esperanza High School\u2019s Medical Sciences Academy participated in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Leadership Conference in Sacramento. These students competed in a range of medically related events, demonstrating both academic skill and professional poise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esperanza\u2019s Biomedical Team\u2014comprised of Ben Vo, Brendan Does, Raffi Akmakjian, and Connor Yang\u2014earned third place overall, receiving bronze medals for their outstanding performance. Additionally, Isabella Gomez-Rodriguez achieved third place in the Medical Spelling competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Community Awareness Team, which included Caris Chung, Jazzlyn Jurado, Claire Kim, Naomi Kiniti, and Aditi Patel, were recognized as fourth place finalists. Quyen Nguyen also earned recognition as a ninth place finalist, and the Health Education Team\u2014consisting of Annette Byun, Lana Marques, and Janelle Miyatake\u2014placed tenth in their respective category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to their competitive success, the students engaged in meaningful educational experiences, including a visit to the Capitol building and Old Town Sacramento. They also had the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers from across the state, proudly representing Esperanza High School throughout the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advisors Frank Perez and Valerie Easton expressed immense pride in the students\u2019 achievements and the professionalism they exhibited during the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
