On March 12, 2025, the Richard Nixon Foundation, in partnership with the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce, hosted California\u2019s first-ever National Civics Bee\u00ae Regional Competition. This prestigious academic event is part of a nationwide initiative that encourages middle school students to deepen their understanding of civics and propose innovative solutions to improve their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students in grades 6 through 8 were invited to submit responses to a three-question essay prompt, demonstrating both their knowledge of civic principles and their commitment to community engagement. From this regional competition, ten students were selected to advance to the California State Competition, which will be held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the finalists are two outstanding students from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District: Annika Taylor of Yorba Linda Middle School and Max LeCompte of Travis Ranch School. Their thoughtful submissions and exemplary civic awareness earned them a place among the top ten student competitors in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners of the state competition will go on to represent California at the national level in Washington, D.C., where they will compete for top honors and cash prizes. The district commends Annika and Max for their achievement and wishes them continued success as they advance to the next stage of the National Civics Bee\u00ae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
