The Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County (CRF-OC) held its annual Mock Trial Awards Ceremony, recognizing outstanding achievements among participating students. The entire El Dorado High School Mock Trial team received commendation for their collective efforts throughout the season, and several individual team members were honored for their exceptional performance in the courtroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three El Dorado students\u2014Mia Demonte, JD Cavalluzzi, and Lauren Wilson\u2014were each recognized as Outstanding Attorneys. This distinction is awarded to approximately 16 of the 288 student trial attorneys who participate in the competition, highlighting their exemplary advocacy and legal reasoning skills. In addition, Sahiba Chowdhary earned the title of Outstanding Pretrial Attorney, an honor granted to only about 12 of the 96 student pretrial attorneys for excellence in presenting pretrial motions and demonstrating deep understanding of constitutional issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening concluded with a remarkable accolade: Sahiba Chowdhary was named Orator of the Year, an award given to the student deemed the most effective and persuasive advocate in the entire competition. This prestigious recognition underscores her exceptional skill in courtroom presentation and legal argumentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony also featured El Dorado High School alumnus Gerard Gully as the keynote speaker. Gully, a former recipient of the Orator of the Year award himself, now serves as an Assistant District Attorney and offered words of inspiration and encouragement to the next generation of legal minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a point of pride for the school community, El Dorado High School holds a unique legacy within the Orange County Mock Trial program. It has produced more Orator of the Year recipients than any other school and remains the only institution to have had at least one recipient in every decade of the award\u2019s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
