Recently, Parkview School hosted a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation visit, and it was a huge\u00a0success! Typically, WASC reports are for high schools, but because Parkview is a Preppy K through 12th grade program, all facets were shared \u2013 a giant\u00a0undertaking.<\/p>\n
The WASC review panel consisted of three educators from across Southern California: high school special education advisor Letty Bernstein, a high school counselor from Century Academy High School in Thousand Oaks, and an English teacher from Provisional Accelerated Learning Academy in San Bernardino.\u00a0The team spent three days at Parkview. They met often and wrote vigorously about the fabulous programs and activities offered by Parkview.<\/p>\n
A variety of stakeholder meetings were held with parents, students and staff, along with district personnel. Monday night’s meeting was with the parent community. The team was very impressed with the knowledge, passion and experiences shared by those in attendance.\u00a0On Tuesday afternoon, students also had the opportunity to answer questions presented to them. The WASC team said the meeting was insightful. They were impressed at the turnout, as well as with the articulation with which the students spoke.\u00a0District personnel came to the parent and staff meetings. The Parkview community is grateful for their support and knowledge of the school’s offerings, and the important role Parkview plays in the community as an alternative educational program.<\/p>\n
