On Wednesday, October 22, Valadez Middle School Academy and Valencia High School presented their first-ever joint Halloween Strings Concert, marking an exciting milestone for both schools\u2019 music programs. The event served as a festive and inspiring celebration of music, community, and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For several years, Mr. Gary Hung served as the strings instructor for Melrose and Rio Vista Elementary Schools, where he nurtured young musicians and prepared them for a seamless transition into the Valadez Middle School Orchestra. This year, Mr. Hung assumed a new role as the Director of Orchestras at Valencia High School. While his presence is missed at the elementary level, the Valadez music community takes great pride in seeing him continue to guide students as they advance into high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In preparation for this special event, Mr. Hung and Mrs. Garcia visited both elementary campuses to invite students to experience the vibrant world of middle and high school music. The concert embraced the Halloween spirit, with students and families arriving in costume and enjoying trick-or-treating activities prior to the performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each participating school showcased its talented ensembles, culminating in a joint performance of Gargoyles<\/em> by Doug Spata. The piece featured a combined orchestra of 90 string musicians from Valadez Middle School and Valencia High School, whose dynamic performance exemplified the students\u2019 talent, dedication, and artistic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert\u2019s success has already inspired plans to make it an annual tradition, fostering a strong connection among the district\u2019s elementary, middle, and high school string programs while continuing to celebrate the joy and unity that music brings to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
