On Wednesday, December 2, the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce Foundation surprised Valencia High School senior Evelyn Yao with recognition as its October Student of the Month during a special on-campus presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valencia High School Principal Chris Herzfeld shared highlights of Evelyn\u2019s outstanding accomplishments, noting her enrollment in the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program and her leadership role as an editor for El Tigre Publications. In addition to her academic achievements, Evelyn founded the LIT UP Club, an initiative dedicated to supporting literacy efforts at the school\u2019s elementary feeder campuses. Her commitment to service is further reflected in more than 427 hours of community service and her role as a REACH Foundation Board Member, demonstrating a deep dedication to both her school and the broader community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Foundation\u2019s Student of the Month Program, Evelyn received a $100 scholarship, presented by Foundation President Anthony Johnson, Treasurer Kevin McCobb, Board Member Lynn Campbell, and Executive Director Susan Wan-Ross. Each month, the program honors an exceptional local high school student who exemplifies academic excellence, leadership, and meaningful community involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations to Evelyn Yao on this well-deserved recognition. Her achievements and service reflect the values of leadership, dedication, and excellence celebrated by Valencia High School and the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
