Parkview School student Simran Vaswani was sworn in as the new Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Student Board Member on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Her term will extend through the second semester of the 2025\u201326 school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Student Board Member, Simran will prepare a monthly report to present at each Board Meeting. Her reports will highlight recent activities and events occurring on the district\u2019s high school and alternative school campuses. She will also cast preferential votes on important matters related to the school district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simran attended local Orange County schools before enrolling in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District for high school. She is currently a senior at Parkview School and is concurrently enrolled at Yorba Linda High School. Her senior year reflects a rigorous academic program, including Advanced Placement coursework in English Literature, Statistics, Government, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Computer Science, and Student Leadership. This year also marks her fourth and final year on Yorba Linda High School\u2019s The Wrangler newspaper staff and her third year serving as an editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond academics, Simran serves as the Founder and President of the Crohn\u2019s & Colitis Foundation Take Steps Youth Leadership Committee. In her free time, she is also teaching herself to play the guitar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following graduation, Simran plans to pursue a career in medicine or law and is currently considering several top universities. She is supported by a strong and caring family, including her mother, Soni, and her father, Sanja. Also in attendance to celebrate her swearing-in were Principal Dominique Polchow of Buena Vista Virtual Academy, Yorba Linda High School newspaper teacher Sarah Shay, and members of The Wrangler newspaper staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The district is incredibly pleased that Simran has agreed to serve as the Student Board Member during her final year in PYLUSD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
