On April 24, educators from Glenview Elementary School presented at the Orange County Office of Education\u2019s Project GLAD\u00ae Institute, showcasing the school\u2019s continued commitment to biliteracy instruction and innovative practices within its dual language program. Representing Glenview were dual language teachers Mr. Vega, Mr. Garcia, Mrs. Diaz, Mr. Ramon, and Mrs. Tan, who shared their two-year journey toward Project GLAD\u00ae certification and highlighted the intentional implementation of the school\u2019s 90\/10 dual language instructional model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the primary grades session, \u201cTeaming Up to Build Biliteracy in Primary Grades,\u201d the Glenview team demonstrated how collaborative planning and instructional alignment support biliteracy development in kindergarten through third grade classrooms. Presenters emphasized the integration of Project GLAD\u00ae strategies in Spanish to strengthen oral language development, reading comprehension, and academic writing while maintaining rigorous, grade-level instruction that is accessible and engaging for all learners, particularly multilingual students. Attendees from across Orange County observed research-based instructional practices that illustrated the impact of purposeful collaboration on student achievement and language acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glenview educators also contributed to upper-grade professional learning through the session, \u201cUsing the Project GLAD\u00ae Model to Strengthen Biliteracy in the Upper Grades.\u201d This presentation provided participants with practical, high-impact strategies designed to support language development, content mastery, and student engagement across subject areas. Featured instructional approaches included Pictorial Input Chart with review, Expert Groups, Mind Maps, Process Grid games, Cooperative Strip Paragraphs, and Bridging strategies. Presenters offered classroom-based examples and implementation guidance in both English and Spanish, reinforcing the adaptability and effectiveness of the GLAD\u00ae framework across grade levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collectively, Glenview Elementary\u2019s presentations positioned the school as a model for effective biliteracy instruction and collaborative professional practice. The team\u2019s dedication to continuous improvement, instructional excellence, and student-centered learning reflects the broader commitment to academic achievement and multilingual education within the district and throughout Orange County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
