At the PYLUSD Gala 2016 on Saturday, Feb. 20, Superintendent Dr. Doug Domene recognized both the Board of Education and former PYLUSD Superintendent Dr. Dennis Smith with “You Are The Advantage” awards. The “You Are The Advantage” award is one of the district’s most prestigious commendations.<\/p>\n
The Board consists of Judi Carmona, Karin Freeman, Carol Downey, Carrie Buck and Eric Padget. They were honored for their tireless support of arts education. The Board was instrumental in keeping the arts alive in PYLUSD — their vision always puts students first. This year, the Board restored all levels of elementary music, including fourth grade programs. In 2008, he worked with a team to create the initial plan for the building, which was the signature project of community-approved bond. Dennis played an integral role in constructing a facility that would serve students for generations to come.
