On Wednesday, May 27, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) hosted its annual Induction Showcase at Lakeview Elementary School. The event recognized 27 first-year and 28 second-year Induction Candidates for demonstrating proficiency in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In California, new teachers must complete a two-tiered credentialing system that includes coursework, fieldwork, and a two-year induction program that provides extensive support and mentoring. School districts are responsible for offering induction programs that guide teachers toward a comprehensive understanding of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. Upon successful completion of the program, teachers earn a California Clear Credential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration was attended by Board of Education President Carrie Buck and Vice President Trisha Quintero, along with members of the district\u2019s leadership team. Representatives from Grand Canyon University and SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, sponsors of the PYLUSD Induction Program, were also in attendance. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kym LeBlanc-Esparza addressed attendees, offering words of encouragement and praise to the new educators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following her remarks, Deputy Superintendent of the Academic Leadership Team Dr. Candace Perez and Director of Secondary Education Michael Young presented certificates and shared mentor remarks highlighting the individual growth, accomplishments, and professional journeys of each teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Mentor Service Award to veteran educators and longtime mentors Christine Jackson and Susan Rotkosky in recognition of their outstanding contributions and unwavering dedication to the Induction Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Induction Showcase served as a meaningful celebration of professional growth, collaboration, and mentorship within PYLUSD, underscoring the district\u2019s ongoing commitment to supporting and developing high-quality educators who positively impact student learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
