All seventh and eighth graders at Tuffree Middle School participated in a successful Career Day on Thursday, March 24. This was the first year that Tuffree has hosted this type of school-wide event.<\/p>\n
Thirty-six speakers from a variety of professions visited the campus to talk about their careers. A welcome reception, which included a performance by Tuffree’s string quartet and a showcase of student artwork, was held for all guests in the multipurpose room before breakout sessions.<\/p>\n
The guest speakers were assigned a classroom, and then gave staggered presentations to different groups of students. Students chose their top interests, and attended four different sessions.<\/p>\n
Some of the professions represented include lawyer (district attorney), judge\/magistrate, forensic social worker, probation officer, NASA engineer, pastry chef, musician, athletic trainer, photographer, FBI profiler, marine biologist, Disney creative costumer, teacher, chef, makeup artist, pilot and pediatrician, among many others.<\/p>\n
Two highlights included a Placentia Police Department K-9 demonstration, and a California Highway Patrol (CHP) helicopter landing in the school’s field at lunch.<\/p>\n
It was a great \u2013 and informative \u2013 experience for all Tuffree students!<\/p>\n
