Yorba Linda High School senior Gavin Esqueda was sworn in as the new Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Student Board Member on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. His term will last throughout the first semester of the school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Student Board Member, Gavin will prepare a monthly report to present at each Board Meeting. His reports will highlight recent activities and events occurring on the district\u2019s high school and alternative school campuses. He will also cast preferential votes on important matters related to the school district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gavin kindergartner at Fairmont Elementary School before attending Glenknoll Elementary School and later Woodsboro Elementary School, where he participated in the GATE program from fourth through sixth grade. He continued on to Kraemer Middle School and is now a proud senior at Yorba Linda High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a senior, Gavin serves the Mustangs as an ASB Executive Ambassador. In this leadership role, he takes on a wide range of responsibilities, including planning schoolwide events and activities, promoting school spirit, and helping create a positive and engaging campus experience for his fellow students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gavin also maintains a rigorous academic schedule that includes AP Macroeconomics, AP U.S. Government, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, and AP Literature. Beyond the classroom and ASB, he serves as Vice President of the Helping Hands Club and is a member of the National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, Parent Teacher Student Association, and Track & Field team. Following graduation, Gavin hopes to attend UC San Diego, where he plans to major in biology or microbiology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gavin has a strong support system behind him with his mom, Rosie; dad, Ramino; and sisters, Celeste and Camila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The district is incredibly pleased that Gavin has agreed to serve as the Student Board Member during his final semester in PYLUSD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
