In remembrance of September 11 and in observance of Patriot Day, Yorba Linda Middle School students participated in a schoolwide effort focused on reflection, gratitude, and service. The activities culminated in a collaborative eagle wing mural displayed on campus on September 11, marking 25 years since the September 11, 2001, attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the project, every eighth-grade student designed, illustrated, or wrote a personal message on an individual feather reflecting on the significance of September 11. Students used their feathers to honor loved ones who serve the country, recognize the dedication and sacrifice of first responders, and remember the lives lost. Each feather was then incorporated into a large set of eagle wings, creating a collective symbol of strength, unity, remembrance, and patriotism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commemoration extended across the campus, with sixth- and seventh-grade students writing letters of appreciation to members of the Orange County Sheriff\u2019s Department and Orange County Fire Authority, Station 10. Through their letters, students expressed gratitude to the first responders who serve and protect the community each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through art, reflection, and expressions of gratitude, Yorba Linda Middle School students demonstrated the importance of remembering the events of September 11 while recognizing those who have served and continue to serve their country and local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
