On Wednesday, October 14, Melrose Elementary School received a meaningful piece of local history thanks to the generosity of Placentia City Council Member Ward Smith.

As part of the City of Placentia’s sale of retired street signs, Council Member Smith donated the retired Melrose street sign to the school, providing a unique opportunity to preserve a piece of the community’s history.

The sign now proudly hangs in the Melrose Elementary School library, where it serves as a lasting symbol of the school’s connection to the City of Placentia and its rich heritage. Beyond its historical significance, the display offers students an opportunity to develop an appreciation for local history, community identity, and the importance of preserving meaningful landmarks for future generations.

Melrose Elementary School extends its sincere appreciation to Council Member Smith for his thoughtful donation and continued support of the school community.
